  Zanesville is the home of several pottery makers, e.g., The Longaberger Basket Factory on Putnam Avenue and Floriware in Market Street. There are also several others in nearby towns.

Covered bridge fans won't want to miss viewing the Salt Creek Covered Bridge. The 87 footer was built around 1846 and is now the only remaining 'pure Warren truss' covered bridge in the world acording to the Chamber of Commerce. From town head east on US-40 to Arch Hill Road. Turn left and the bridge is another 2 miles (approximately). Look for the White Pillars Christmas House at the intersection of US-40 and Arch Hill Road.
  The famous 'Y' Bridge is billed as the only bridge in the world over which you can cross and still be on the same side of the river. Well, yes, if you are east bound on US-40 on the west side of the Muskingum River, bear left where the bridge roadway splits (this is the 'Y') and you wind up on Linden Avenue and, yes, you are still on the west side of the river..

  But there is a possible treat in store. If you backtrack to the 'Y', turn left and really cross the river and then turn left at North 2nd Street, at Market Street is a little shop that will delight the youngsters, Grandma's Toybox plus a neat restaurant, the Dining Car, and with a dessert shop next door. Actually, we found Market Street very interesting.

  About Zane Grey... we had expected to see at least a museum in Zanesville where this famous author of some 80 adult western novels was born (and lived the first 18 years of his life). But, no, you have to go to Norwich where some Zane Grey stuff is included in their National Road Museum. Not sure what the connection is but there you have it. If you are eastbound, you have to exit at Zanesville and follow US-40 to Norwich because there is no exit on I-70 for Norwich. If you are westbound, take exit 169. turn right and then left on US-40 and follow it to Norwich.
